Interesting Info -> Computer and Tips & Help -> Free Anti-virus / Software Safe List Free Anti-Virus / Anti-Spyware / Anti-Malware RecommendationsFree Software Safe-list (Windows)I keep my Anti-virus and version of Windows up-to-date. I don't download much of anything, use Firefox, and stay away from spammy/scammy sites. But, I still run into the occassional Trojan or Malware. Unfortunatly -- it seems that I catch them from infected websites more than anywhere else. Below is my list of Safe Anti-Spyware / Anti-Viral, etc. Software...and as a bonus: they are all free. Safe and Free Anti-Virus Software:If you have an expired McAfee or Norton on your computer (if you haven't paid for them, your free-trial is probably over)... get rid of those bloated and expensive programs and get one of these free anti-virus programs that proper geeks use: Avast Anti-Virus Free Edition - This is my #1 choice for free Anti-Virus software. AVG Free Edition - This was my choice for many years, I decided to change over to Avast just because it seems like Avast uses less CPU and memory. The other reason I no longer use AVG Free is because they made it very hard to update the free version of the software. Free and Safe Anti-Spyware / Malware Removing SoftwareAlthough Avast or AVG will keep you safe from the majority of online infection dangers, you'll also need some specialized anti-malware / spyware. When I have become infected (2 times in the last 3 years) it was one of these programs that fixed it: MalwareBytes Anti-Malware - Amazing software, and the free edition works great. SUPERAntiVirus Free Edition - The name was a put-off, but this is good software. And, it was the only program that could remove the Trojan on my computer last month. Note: Don't be fooled by pop-ups claiming that you are infected and need to download some software to get rid of the problems.
