Great full-color field guide. Tells you what is edible, and also aboriginal plant uses.

There are tons of edible berries and plants on the island, this book is worth getting.

National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms -

We are fortunate enough to have a variety of mushrooms that are edible on Vancouver Island.

Picking chanterelles, pines, and 'chicken of the woods' is a fun and delicious fall activity on the island.
